When is a Building Permit required?
The purpose of a building permit is to assure that
construction complies with the codes adopted by the City of Grovlenad.
The building permit is based on requirements of the Florida Uniform Building
Codes.
After careful consideration, the City Council enacted these codes to protect
health, general welfare and your property investment. Lending agencies
often require building permits for construction financing.
You need a building permit whenever you plan to:
- Construct a home or other building
- Make improvements or alterations to your home or business
- Move or demolish a building
- Roof or re-roof your house, business or other building
- Make electrical, plumbing, or heating installations, including alterations to existing systems
- Build a swimming pool or some accessory buildings, fences or retaining walls.
In brief, you need a permit for any work that physically changes existing structures on your property.
When in doubt, call City Hall!
